A project born from the need to reach where words often do not reach.
The routes with soul are a set of guided itineraries that allow you to get to know the urban art and cultural heritage of the Vallcarca neighborhood. An art historian and tour guide will accompany you to discover these gems while visiting 12 key points of the territory.
Between architectural works, modernist buildings, public gardens, viaducts and spaces occupied by neighborhood struggles, you will discover 3 pieces of urban art created by a very special group of women:
The guided routes run through three murals created by Lily Brick, Núria Toll and MUSA, three expert graffiti artists who, together with a group of women in a vulnerable situation, have turned the walls of the Vallcarca neighborhood into a large urban canvas that communicates, educates and raises awareness in matters of equality, social inclusion, feminism and sustainability.
The Routes with Soul have been developed through participatory processes with the local community of the district in order to improve living conditions in the neighborhood, boost economic activity, empower the neighborhood, face urban planning deficits and foster cooperation and social cohesion dynamics.
Francesc Xavier holds a degree in Art History and teaches History and Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. He has more than 30 years of experience as a tourist guide and is currently in charge of revitalizing the “Routes with Soul” guides.
We believe in art as a tool for generating social change and in its transformative power over people… because art is, above all, a state of mind.
